God of Silence….

fullsizeoutput_5b9I have no idea whatsoever that this blog “God of Silence” took 3 weeks from the day the title was typed. Yes, exactly 3 Mondays ago i prayed  and penned down the title to start to write..it was an urgent phone call that paused the writing. God took 21 days of silence to bring me back to the writing table. Is it a coincidence?? and i don’t believe in them  as i believe in God.

Past 3 weeks was a roller coaster riding moments for me and wife, my work related pressures are the baggages i am bringing back home lately. Church, friends , peers, colleagues, bosses whoever can tap on me have been upsetting lately. We had been praying, asking, seeking, all sorts of things that can help. But it is silence that we encounter. Me and wife got upset over this chilling quietness that we encounter after every prayer session. We look at each other face with an expression that speaks —SILENCE AGAIN?

Up until yesterday we had a conversation with a lady at church who is into ministering kids, whilst  sharing about our Silent God she shared her testimony of 11 years of quietness. God moved her out of the country which she felt home, out of job which is her only support and  gave her an add-on health condition that made her bedridden most of the time. Prayers of 11 years are answered with only some kind of unforeseen situation that slips a step down from current situation. And one day she has been called to the current ministry to serve the Kids. Its only  her faithful prayers that kept her believe that God is working on something for her.  11 YEARS not a small time..its more than 2 full terms of USA President in Office. But for God its not how long that matters…but the right time that he sees. Right time that is perfectly right for us to be in his rightful kingdom. God prepares us for a purpose, for a situation, for his mission ultimately. Sometimes it may take life time.

Speaking about lifetime, Abraham justifies perfectly. God covenant to Abram (He was still Abram) about offspring happens in Genesis 15. After that it was silence up until Genesis 21 where Isaac is born. Abraham and Sarah might have prayed about this from Genesis 15 to Genesis 21. Desperation of Sarah makes Hagar mother of Ishmael, Names get changed from Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, reaffirmation of the offspring happens again, Abraham intercedes to God ,  Sodom & Gomorra gets wiped out, Abraham migrates to Negev, its a long story between a covenant and fulfillment  .  After all these finally Abraham and Sarah are blessed with Isaac at 100 years. But it is his faithfulness during this silence that Apostle Paul encourages in letters to Hebrews.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.(Hebrews 11:1)

Like Abraham we can move forward one moment at a time trusting that God is good and just in control.

For me and wife, God had 3 weeks of silence to make us go through situations, challenges, upsets and finally a lady at church, her testimony that completes a perfect story to describe HIM in this blog.

God’s silence is not his quietness….Hang on there, God has heard your prayer and he is working on it to give you the best.

Submission is not Slavery

brokenchai_l9416s5sSubmitting ourselves to anything has to do with giving up our rights, opinions and ultimately our freedom. Thats the main stumbling block in submission.

We will only submit ourselves to something, in known two instances.

1.When we are so much obsessed with anything our heart desires

2.When all our doors shut and hopes gone. When there is noway but the way of surrendering or submission.

We humans are unique in our sense, unique compared to fellow beings and unique compared to fellow species….uniquely unique. Our ideology and having individuality brings our personality and identity. We become slaves of our identity as we grow culturally, socially and secularly.

The very identity is the one that makes us reluctant  towards submission to anything, because our crave for self identity becomes our God. Without knowing we start to loose our God given freedom.

Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.

Romans 6:16

Let us start to look outwards than inwards..this shifting of focus is often or many times helpful. Look at something that is bigger, better and where we started our journey. Look at something that where the Love is  without limits..un conditional love which do not measure on identities our God. Love that can forgive , which can turn our hearts to loose the identity.

When we start to surrender ourselves to God, we surrender our heart that carries our identity, ego, hurts , joy (Which we always want to count as last)..When we bring this hearts to him and surrender,,,we receive that identity and ego transformed to humbleness..The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.Psalm 51-17.. God always welcomes a heart like ours as psalmist says.

If you are ever wondering about a safe place for submission or surrendering, its right here at the foot of our God, Where submission never is a slavery..

Here with God is the only place where we submit our Earthly slavery for Heavenly freedom….

In Christ..Amen

Tomorrow is not important as Today

img_4726Our today leads us to our tomorrow. If our tomorrow is not important as today, there is no sense for today. For many of us we hustle, bustle with most of the time planning , thinking or praying for “tomorrow” or the days to come. We loose the joy of today with tomorrow worries.

We miss the beauty to today by letting ourselves lost in future. Creating idols of worries, challenges of future only eats up our joy in living the moment. Cost of future comforts is a sacrifice we make for today’s happiness.

Jesus says in Matthew 6:34 So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Tomorrow might be a joyful day or a trouble waiting for us. who knows, we have no control over the next second and we build our thoughts for future. There is no assurance in that except in one thing that God is present in any moment that we have to go through. Either joy or sorrow, challenges or comfort our only rock is the Grace of God.

Worrying in tomorrow means  trusting in self rather than the creator. when Jesus say not to worry about tomorrow, he asks us to shift the confidence in self to trust in God.

When God can hold the universe, he can hold the moment and tomorrow…future. Bible says..even the flowers and sparrows are taken well care of by his love. His love for us will never fade.

Blessings for Good week ahead
